Holi Tragedy: Four Teenagers Drown in Ulhas River in Thane

Mumbai, 15th March 2025: A Holi celebration turned tragic as four teenage boys drowned in the Ulhas River in Thane’s Badlapur area on Friday afternoon after entering the water.
The victims, all Class X students aged between 15 and 16, were residents of Poddar Gruh Complex in Chamtoli. According to police reports, the boys were caught off guard when the river’s water level rose suddenly, preventing them from escaping.
The deceased have been identified as Aryan Medar (15), Om Singh Tomar (15), Siddharth Singh (16), and Aryan Singh (16). Authorities have recovered their bodies and sent them to Badlapur Rural Hospital for post-mortem examination.
“A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a police official stated.
Despite swift response efforts from locals and rescue teams, the strong currents made immediate recovery challenging. The incident has raised concerns about water safety during festive celebrations, with officials urging people to exercise caution near rivers and other water bodies.
