Mumbai: 6,569 Seats Available In Private Schools Under Right To Education Act

Mumbai, 5th March 2023: Under the Right to Education Act – 2009, students from deprived and weaker sections are given free admission every year in unaided private schools against the 25 per cent reserved quota. Under this, 6,569 seats are available in a total of 337 eligible schools in the Mumbai district for the new academic year 2023-24. Parents can apply online till March 17 through the ‘RTE’ website available under the ‘Student’ option on the Maharashtra government’s website student.maharashtra.gov.in (no www) or education.maharashtra.gov.in (no www).

No documents need to be attached to the RTE application. 83 Guidance Help Centers have been set up all over Mumbai so that parents do not face any difficulty in this admission process. The list of these help centres can be viewed by the parents by selecting the district ‘Mumbai BMC’ in the ‘Help Desk’ option on the respective website. Students who have previously been admitted to a school under RTE 25 per cent cannot reapply. At the same time, admission will be cancelled if the wrong information is filled in, said Raju Tadvi, education officer of Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

Parents who can apply online themselves from their mobile, need not visit the help centre. Before applying and to know the latest information about the admission process, read the information on the website carefully, as the Education Department of Mumbai Municipal Corporation has requested.
