Mumbai: Construction Businessman Arrested In Fraud Case Of Rs 12 Crore

Mumbai, 6th January 2023: Construction businessman Jagdish Ahuja (72) was recently arrested by the Economic Offenses Wing for a fraud of Rs 12.31 crore by promising good returns on investment. On the complaint of the investor, a case was registered in this matter at Santacruz police station in December 2022.

Complainant Anil Gehani invested money from 2010 to 2016 at the behest of the accused. Initially, the complainant Gehani got a refund. But then he stopped receiving the amount. When Gehani contacted Ahuja in this matter, he was promised to give him a flat in the Alts project in Worli instead of cash. An agreement was also made regarding that. But the complainants did not get any amount or flat. Gehani had complained to the Santacruz police about the fraud of Rs 12,31,21,000. Accordingly, a case of fraud was registered at the Santacruz police station.

For further investigation, the case was transferred to the Economic Offenses Branch. During the investigation in this case, it is alleged that Ahuja had lured Gehani to give a 24 per cent refund during his visit to Dubai. Another person is involved in this case, and he has also been accused. The officer said that Ahuja was recently arrested in this case.
