Mumbai: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Receives Death Threat; 24-Year-Old Woman Detained

Reported by Tikam Shekhawat
Mumbai, 4th November 2024: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received a death threat on Saturday evening. The threat, sent to the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Room, warned the Chief Minister to resign within 10 days or face death “like former MLA Baba Siddiqui,” who was shot on October 12 in Bandra East.

The Mumbai Police Control Room immediately alerted authorities, leading to the swift detention of the suspect responsible for the threat. The police have detained the 24-year-old, a graduate in Information Technology. She was detained in Ulhasnagar, Thane district, in a joint operation between the Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad and Ulhasnagar Police. Reports indicate that her mental health may be a factor in the incident.

This is the third such threat the Mumbai Traffic Control Cell has received since the murder of Baba Siddiqui. Bollywood actor Salman Khan also received similar threats last month, with ransom demands of two and five crore rupees sent on October 29. These incidents have raised security concerns, especially as Yogi Adityanath is expected to visit Maharashtra soon to campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
