Mumbai: Thackeray Faction MLA Ravindra Waikar Accused Of Power Abuse And Fraud; Complaint Registered At Azad Maidan Police Station

Mumbai, 16th September 2023: Thackeray faction MLA Ravindra Waikar and his wife were booked under the charge of fraud at Azad Maidan police station. The police registered a case against them under the charges of misusing the premises of Supremo Club in Jogeshwari, as well as concealing the facts while constructing a hotel there.

Deputy Engineer of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Santosh Mandavkar, had registered a complaint in this case at Azad Maidan Police Station on Friday. He accused MLA Ravindra Waikar, his wife Manisha Waikar, and their business partners Asu Nehalnai, Raj Lalchandani, Prithpal Bindra, and accountant Arun Dubey of conceding the facts and misuse of power.

He mentioned in the report that Waikar hid the information about the reserved plot of 8000 square metres at Vyaravali on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Joint Road and fraudulently obtained permission for the construction of a five-star hotel from January 2021 to July 2021, during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state.

It is further alleged in this complaint that Waikar and his associates profited crores of rupees from the commercial use of the plot reserved for entertainment and sports activities by the Municipal Corporation by leveraging it to weddings, parties, and other events. Accordingly, the Azad Maidan police registered a complaint and are investigating the matter.

However, when central agencies are investigating the Covid kit bag scam allegation, in which Thackeray faction MP Sajay Raut’s associate and former Municipal Corporation Mayor Kishori Pednekar have been accused, the inclusion of one more associate of Uddhav Thackeray’s name in this list is said to be a major blow to Thackeray.
