Pune: Graveyard Clash Unfolds in Ota Scheme, Nigdi: 50 Individuals Face Charges After Violent Dispute

Nigdi, 10th March 2024: A clash erupted between two groups over the excavation of soil from graves in the Jannatul Barvi Welfare Trust’s graveyard at Ota Scheme, Nigdi, resulting in the registration of cases against approximately 50 individuals from both factions. The incident unfolded on Saturday (9th) around 10:30 am, prompting Rizwan Iqbal Shaikh (32 years old, resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi) to file a complaint at the Nigdi police station.
As per Rizwan Iqbal Shaikh’s complaint, a case has been filed against individuals including Imran Mukertal, Guddulal Mukertal, Haider Sheikh, Razzak Mukertal, Wahid Mukertal, Abdul Mukertal, Salim Sheikh, Sahil Allabax Mukertal, Sadil Mukertal, Mujahid Mukertal, Mosim Sheikh (all residents of Otaskim, Nigdi), and 10 to 15 others.
In response, Imran Ismail Mukertal (35 years old, resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi) filed a counter-complaint. According to Imran Ismail Mukertal’s complaint, a case has been registered against Alam Qureshi, Imran Khan, Rizwan Sheikh, Iqbal Sheikh, Firoz, Abdullah, Majeed Sheikh, Mohammad Saad, Abdullah Saad, Imtiaz Khan, Harshad Khan, Amin Shaikh, Ali Syed Shaikh, Bandeali Syed Shaikh, Imtiaz Khan, Mehboob Shaikh, Mosin alias Ajimuddin Shaikh, Shafiq Shaikh, Nazim Shaikh, Tanjim Shaikh, and five to seven others.
The dispute arose from an argument between the two groups concerning the use of a JCB for soil removal from the graves. The altercation escalated into physical violence, with members from both sides assaulting each other. Post the confrontation, the accused from both groups allegedly armed themselves, causing a disturbance in the area. Nigdi police are currently investigating both incidents.
