Kalyani Nagar, 11th March 2024: Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN) is sounding an alarm over a critical environmental issue plaguing the community, necessitating immediate intervention from local authorities. The problem at hand is the persistent plumes of smoke arising from the burning of garbage along the riverbank on South Avenue, adjacent to the designated Salim Ali Biodiversity Park and close to Gaekwad farm.
As concerned residents of Kalyani Nagar, the residents are troubled by the continuous burning of waste, a consequence of inadequate waste management practices in our area. This issue reached a peak at approximately 08:36 AM today, when the air became thick with noxious fumes.
The residents said that environmental repercussions of this ongoing problem are severe. The smoke not only contaminates the air but also poses significant health risks to nearby residents. Respiratory issues, lung diseases, and other health complications are becoming prevalent due to the consistent burning of garbage. Additionally, the environmental damage extends to water sources, endangering the entire ecosystem.
