Pune: Wanowrie Police Crack Down on False Information: Two More Cases Filed for Inciting Communal Tension
Wanowrie, 11th March 2024: The Wanowrie Police have filed two cases related to the dissemination of false information aimed at inciting communal tension. The misleading message claimed that action was underway in the vicinity of Chhota Sheikh Salla Dargah in Kasba Peth.
Three individuals are named as accused in these cases: Ayaan Mehboob Sheikh and Ibrahim Ayaz Sheikh, both residents of Hadapsar, and Shahrukh Laik Sheikh from Wanowrie. Separate cases have been registered against Sheikh at the Wanowrie police station.
The accused, Sheikh, shared a deceptive message on social media, alleging that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was taking action at Chhota Sheikh Salla Dargah in Kasba Peth. This false information led to heightened tensions in the area.
Following an investigation that revealed Sheikh as the source of the message, the police registered cases against the three individuals. Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange is leading the investigation.
