AAP to Contest All 36 Mumbai Seats in Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Mumbai, 6th August 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declared on Monday its intention to contest all 36 seats in Mumbai for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The party has initiated extensive preparations for the polls.

Preeti Menon, Mumbai president of AAP, stated, “We plan to contest as many seats as possible, as we believe there is a need for a welfare-oriented political force in the region.” She clarified that while AAP remains a part of the INDIA bloc, it will independently contest the elections in Maharashtra, similar to its approach in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

Menon criticized the Eknath Shinde administration, accusing the Chief Minister of prioritizing the development of Ahmedabad and suggesting that Shinde should be referred to as the “CM of Gujarat.”

“The current government has failed the people of Maharashtra, with its focus primarily on Ahmedabad’s growth. I believe Eknath Shinde should be called the CM of Gujarat,” Menon remarked.
