Mumbai: Thiruvananthapuram Airport on High Alert After Air India Flight Receives Bomb Threat

Mumbai/Thiruvananthapuram, 22nd August 2024: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport was placed on high alert on Thursday after an Air India flight from Mumbai received a bomb threat. According to airport sources, the pilot reported the threat at 7:30 a.m. as the plane neared the airport. Upon landing around 8 a.m., the aircraft was moved to an isolated area.
A note stating “Bomb in flight,” written on tissue paper, was discovered in the plane’s restroom. The flight, which had 135 passengers, was evacuated by 8:44 a.m. The origin of the threat is currently unknown, and a police investigation is ongoing. The aircraft is undergoing a thorough inspection by security agencies, including a bomb detection squad.
While passengers wait for their luggage, the airline confirmed that a security alert was detected during the flight. Air India stated that the crew followed all necessary security procedures to ensure passenger safety, and all passengers and crew disembarked without incident.
