Bomb Scare on Mumbai-Frankfurt Flight Leads to Emergency Landing in Turkey

Mumbai, 7th September 2024: The bomb threat that led to the emergency landing of a Vistara Airlines flight from Mumbai to Frankfurt in the Turkish city of Erzurum on Friday turned out to be a false alarm, officials confirmed after a thorough search.

Vistara Flight UK27, travelling from Mumbai to Frankfurt, made a safe landing at Erzurum airport at around 7:05 pm, according to the airline’s statement on Friday. Turkish authorities reported that a note with the message “bomb on board” was discovered in the aircraft’s lavatory, which was carrying 234 passengers and 13 crew members.

Erzurum Governor Mustafa Ciftci stated that by 11:30 pm local time, all searches and inspections had been completed, and the bomb threat was determined to be baseless. Security measures at the airport were lifted following the inspection.

Vistara issued a statement confirming that all passengers, crew members, and the aircraft had been cleared by security agencies after the necessary checks. The airline also arranged for an alternate aircraft to be dispatched to Turkey by 12:25 am local time on Saturday to continue the journey to Frankfurt.
