Thane Police File Case Against Father for Alleged Rape of 17-Year-Old Daughter

Thane, 14th October 2024: Authorities in Maharashtra’s Thane district have initiated legal action against a man accused of sexually assaulting his 17-year-old daughter, as reported on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred in May 2022 while the family was living in a village in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. According to a representative from the Shil-Daighar police station, the 40-year-old father assaulted his daughter while she was asleep and threatened her with severe repercussions if she disclosed the incident to anyone. He also allegedly physically assaulted his wife when she confronted him about the matter.
When family members inquired about the situation, the accused claimed that his daughter’s allegations were fabricated, the official stated.
Three months ago, the family relocated to Shil-Phata in Thane, where the father was accused of sexually assaulting his daughter multiple times again. On Sunday, the victim decided to report the incidents to the police and filed a formal complaint.
Following her report, law enforcement registered a case against the suspect, invoking charges related to rape and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
