BMC Election Results: EVM Glitch Halts Counting in Ward 112

Mumbai, 16th January 2026: Counting of votes in Ward 112 (Bhandup–Vikhroli) has been temporarily suspended due to a technical malfunction in an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), delaying the announcement of results for the ward. Counting had begun at 11:00 am at St. Xavier’s School, the designated polling centre, but was disrupted during the fifth round of counting at 2:30 pm.

Officials said that the first four rounds of counting, including postal ballots, proceeded without incident. However, the EVM malfunction forced authorities to suspend the process, leaving candidates and party workers awaiting the final outcome. Election officials have assured that the issue is being addressed promptly and that counting will resume as soon as possible.

A similar technical problem occurred earlier in Ward 111 at the same centre during the first round. That issue was quickly resolved, allowing counting to continue smoothly, and results for Ward 111 were declared on schedule.

Authorities stressed that measures are in place to prevent further delays and to ensure that the counting process for Ward 112 is completed without compromising electoral integrity.
