SpiceJet Mumbai-Dubai Flight Delayed Over 30 Hours, Pune Passenger Among Flyers Stranded
Pune/Mumbai, 29th September 2026: Several passengers, including a traveller from Pune, were left waiting for more than 30 hours after a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Dubai was repeatedly delayed, with the airline citing operational reasons.
SpiceJet flight SG-5113, scheduled to leave Mumbai at 12:55 pm on Saturday (September 26) and reach Dubai at 2:40 pm, eventually departed around 8 pm on Sunday, according to passengers.
Passengers said the airline changed the departure time multiple times during the delay, leaving them uncertain about when the flight would actually take off.
Mumbai resident Yash Raj, who eventually reached Dubai a day later than planned, said the departure schedule was revised several times.
According to Raj, the flight was initially moved from 12:55 pm to 4 pm on Saturday and was later pushed to 9 pm and then midnight.
The departure time was subsequently shifted to 1 pm on Sunday, followed by further changes to 4 pm, 6:30 pm and 7:50 pm, he said.
Raj also alleged that passengers faced difficulties at Mumbai airport. He claimed that despite holding a valid ticket, he was initially made to wait outside the terminal for nearly two hours and was allowed inside only around 5 pm.
He further claimed that there was no SpiceJet ground staff available at the boarding area and that the airline’s operations were being handled by a third-party agency.
A passenger from Baner in Pune, who was travelling on the same flight and did not wish to be identified, said he had reached Mumbai around 7 am on Saturday. He alleged that the prolonged delay forced him to book a hotel and stay overnight in Mumbai.
Passengers also raised concerns about their attempts to contact the airline’s customer support. Raj alleged that calls to the helpline remained on hold for around 15 minutes before being disconnected, with automated responses providing little assistance.
The disruption also prompted a post on X by Asjad Faridi, whose brother was travelling to Dubai on the flight. He appealed to the airline to arrange an alternative flight instead of issuing a refund.
“We do not want a refund. Please arrange an immediate alternative flight to Dubai,” Faridi wrote.
SpiceJet was contacted through WhatsApp for its response regarding the repeated changes to the flight schedule, passenger arrangements and compensation. No response had been received until the time of publication.
The flight eventually departed Mumbai at around 8 pm on Sunday, more than a day after its originally scheduled departure.
