Dead Rat Found In Masala Dosa At Mumbai Restaurant, Police Complaint Filed
Borivali, 29th September 2026: A customer has filed a complaint with the Borivali Police after allegedly finding a dead rat inside a Mysore masala dosa served at a restaurant in Borivali West.
According to the complaint, the incident took place at Radhakrishna Hotel, located opposite Goyal Shopping Centre on L.T. Road near Borivali West railway station. The customer had ordered a Mysore masala dosa at the restaurant when the alleged discovery was made.
The complainant’s brother had reportedly eaten one or two bites of the dosa before noticing the dead rat inside the food. He subsequently vomited after seeing it, according to the complaint.
A video of the alleged incident has also surfaced on social media, showing the dead rodent inside the dosa. The customer subsequently approached the Borivali Police and sought an investigation into the incident.
The complaint has also called for an inspection by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to examine the restaurant’s food preparation and hygiene practices.
The incident comes as the Maharashtra FDA is carrying out a wider food safety enforcement drive across the state. Several restaurants and food establishments have faced action in recent days over alleged violations related to hygiene, food storage, pest control and other safety requirements.
The FDA has not yet been reported to have announced the findings of an inspection into Radhakrishna Hotel in connection with the complaint. Further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation and any inspection carried out by the relevant authorities.
The alleged incident has raised concerns over food safety at restaurants, particularly as authorities continue inspections of eateries during the ongoing festive season.
