Thane: Massive Fire Breaks Out For The Twelfth Time At Garbage Dump In Kalyan

Kalyan, 10th March 2023: A huge fire broke out at the garbage dump at Barave in Kalyan on Friday morning. Doubts are being expressed about these fires as this is the 12th incident to occur in four years. As soon as the fire broke out, the firemen of the municipality rushed to the spot. After two hours of relentless efforts, they brought the fire under control.
There is a solid waste processing plant in the municipality of Barave village limits. Most of the waste accumulated within the municipal limits is brought to this area. Garbage is currently getting hot due to the extreme heat. Once the waste is dry, it is levelled by the municipality. As the garbage became charred, it caught fire in an instant. The fire assumed a red form. Residents of housing projects in the area woke up to smoke. Many residents visit this area for morning walks. As their smoke spread, it became a dilemma.
Firefighters from six fire stations doused the fire from all four sides and tried their best to bring the fire under control. The Aadhaarwadi landfill caught fire three to four times in the last two months. Now, it is suspected that the fire is being set on purpose. During the last 20 years, except for these sporadic incidents, fires have been set at the Adharwadi waste ground. It was brought forward from the discussion of the corporators in the Mahasabha. Some scrap dealers get iron, copper, and ore elements from the fire after the waste is burnt. Because of this, there was a discussion in the General Assembly that these fires were being set. The same type is understood to be going on now. The officer said that an investigation is being conducted as to why the garbage dump caught fire.
