Thane Congress To File PIL In High Court Over Illegal Constructions In Yeoor

Thane, 10th March 2023: While NCP leader Jitendra Awhad raised the issue of music and liquor parties going on till dawn in the illegal hotel in the Yeoor area, Thane Congress has accused Yeoor has become a breeding ground for illegal constructions. The Congress has claimed that there are more than three hundred illegal bungalows, hotels and sports turf in Yeoor, which is the area of Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and the bungalows which have been given construction permission by the Municipal Corporation and the Revenue Department are also illegal as per the rules. The Congress has also warned that it will file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court to demand action against these bungalows.

Yeoor is a boon to Thane, but when it goes out of bounds, everything deteriorates. There are more than 150 illegal hotels in Yeoor where music and booze parties go on till dawn. NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad had expressed the opinion that this should end somewhere. After that, Congress Thane city president Vikrant Chavan, spokesperson Sachin Shinde, Rahul Pingle and Balasaheb Bhujbal held a press conference on Friday and alleged that Yeoor has become a breeding ground for illegal constructions.

Yeoor area is a part of Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and this park is spread over three lakh acres. The central government announced this park in 1983. There is an air force station at this place. In such important places, the local tribals are allowed to cultivate only for subsistence. Although this area is outside the park, there are tribal clans on the lands there. Illegal constructions are being constructed on these lands. Vikrant Chavan has alleged that it includes bungalows, hotels, wedding halls and sports turf, and the trees that were there earlier have also been destroyed.

The local tribes are still deprived of water facilities. Illegal liquor is being sold in the hotel.

Some goon gangs are occupying the lands. After taking possession of these lands, construction is being done on them with the permission of various departments. Chavan has also alleged that this kind of thing has started in the last few years.
