Thane: Manager Of Oppo Company Arrested In Case Of GST Fraud

Thane, 23rd March 2023: The Bhiwandi team of the Central Goods and Services Tax Department has arrested Mahendra Rawat, manager of the Finance and Accounts Department of Oppo Mobile Company, in connection with the misappropriation of input credit tax (ITC) refund of Rs 19 crore by creating fake invoices. He has been remanded in judicial custody till 3rd April, informed Central Commissioner of Goods and Services Tax, Sumeet Kumar.

Oppo has an office at Bhiwandi. The Bhiwandi team of the Central Goods and Services Tax Department found out that the company was collecting ITC refunds by creating fake invoices. Based on this information, when the team inspected the supplier company of Oppo company, no company was found there.

When the team examined the e-way payment receipts of the Oppo company, they were found to be fake. When the company questioned the vehicle owners and drivers, they also admitted that they had not transported any goods. Later, when the team interrogated Rawat, he confessed to the crime. He was arrested by the team on Wednesday in connection with the ITC refund of Rs 19 crore. He has been produced in court and sent to judicial custody till 3rd April. Commissioner Sumeet Kumar informed that the investigation will continue in this matter.
