Day-Long Symbolic Hunger Strike Successful, Project Victims Unite Against MIDC
Navi Mumbai, 24th March 2023: If the project-related issue is to be resolved completely, the party shoes should be left out. So that the pending issues from the 60s can be solved easily. Currently, MIDC has given citizens relief. But this promise needs to come true. This assertion has been made by the project-affected leader Dashrath Patil. Today, the project victims held a one-day symbolic protest against MIDC.
In 1960, when the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation was established, the first industrial estate was established between Thane and Belapur. But even today, the injustice against landowners continues. Actually, during the said land acquisition, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation has planned a rehabilitation policy from time to time so that the farmers affected by the project can get a permanent source of income. Today (Thursday), Gaon Sangharsh Samiti, under the leadership of Navi Mumbai, Bumiputras, affected by the MIDC project, called a symbolic protest for their long-standing demand. On this occasion, under the leadership of Navi Mumbai International Airport Action Committee President Dashrath Patil, a statement was held with MIDC officials.
Major demands of the movement
– The MIDC project victims should be given 15 per cent of developed plots
– Reservation in the jobs and business of the project victims should be given quickly.
-Construction, renovation or repair work in the MIDC area should be given only to project-affected contractors
-Reduction of interest charged in plot rate and cancellation of property tax as commercial
-Plot should not be given to any company for expansion unless all our land demands are accepted.
Approved requests
-Plot distribution will be done by looking at natural water drainage
-Preference will be given to project beneficiaries in MIDC based on educational qualification.
– Which will be given at a reduced rate of 50 per cent instead of 9 lakhs given as rehabilitation to Bhakhand project victims.
Other demands are being considered and according to the 1993 circular, it was planned to give 100 square meters for industrial purposes and 150 square meters for commercial purposes to the project-affected farmers. This policy has been amended and as per the Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Policy 2009, a provision has been made to give 15 per cent compensation for the acquisition of developed plots to the project beneficiaries. It will be followed up with the state government regarding its implementation. This information was given by Action Committee President Dashrath Patil.
