Mumbai, 11th April 2023: In response to the rising number of Covid-19 cases, the facilities of all hospitals in the state underwent review on Monday (10th April). St George’s Hospital in Mumbai currently has 50 beds reserved for coronavirus patients, but in anticipation of a potential surge in cases, the hospital has decided to increase the number of reserved beds to 250.
Out of the 50 reserved beds at St. George’s Hospital, 40 are general and 10 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Currently, only five Covid-19 patients are admitted, and none are in critical condition. However, the hospital administration is alert and preparing for a potential influx of patients.
Dr. Pallavi Saple, the founder of JJ Hospital, stated that the hospital plans to reserve 250 beds for Covid-19 patients. If this is not enough, the entire hospital will be reserved for Covid-19 patients.
St. George’s Hospital is prepared to handle Covid-19 cases, and the necessary medicine stocks are available in sufficient quantities. Dr. Vinayak Sawardekar, the Medical Superintendent of St. George’s Hospital, confirmed that the hospital is ready to increase the number of beds if needed.
Dr. Saple added that St. George’s Hospital and GT Hospital are both prepared to handle Covid-19 patients according to the state government’s instructions.
