Vikhroli, 16th September 2023: A person died in Mumbai’s Vikhroli area after falling into a drain while collecting plastic bottles from it. The deceased individual is identified as Rahul Suravse (44), a resident of the Vikhroli Park Site area.
On Thursday evening, Rahul Suravse and his friend, Prashant Sonwane (34), were collecting plastic bottles from a drain in the Sangam Nagar area of Vikhroli. At that time, Suravse lost balance and fell into the drain. As the flow of the water was high, he was swept away by the water force.
Immediately, his companion, Prashant Sonawane, informed the nearby residents about the incident. As soon as police learned about the incident, the local police team of Parksite Police Station, along with fire brigade personnel and municipal employees, rushed to the scene.
Soon after, the rescue team began the search operation, which lasted until late Thursday night. However, due to the late hour, the search was called off. On Friday morning, police received information about a deceased corpse in a drain in the Godrej Hill site area, prompting them to resume rescue attempts. When the area was examined, it was discovered to be Suravse’s body.
Suravse’s body was then recovered from the drain and sent to Rajawadi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Parksite Police Station informed that they have reported a case of accidental death and have begun an investigation into the matter.
