Mumbai University Election Department Introduces Changes in Voter Registration Process for AGM Election

Mumbai, 15th November 2023: The anticipation for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) election at Mumbai University is on the rise, with the university’s election department introducing changes to the voter registration process. The election, slated to take place by the end of April, has prompted adjustments to facilitate a smoother and more inclusive registration experience for the registered graduate batch.

One notable change is the flexibility for all applicants to amend their applications until the final submission for registration as a registered graduate. This modification aims to provide applicants with the opportunity to rectify any errors or update information throughout the application process.

The Election Department of Mumbai University has made it mandatory for all applicants to submit their applications online. Notably, the circular released by the department explicitly states that no applicant should submit a printout of the online application in person to the university.

This decision comes in response to demands from various student organizations that advocated for accepting the old voter list, making the physical application submission optional, mandating Aadhaar cards, eliminating the need for OTP, and providing the option to amend applications.

Applicants who followed the old voter registration process, as per the public disclosure on November 9, 2022, will have access to their uploaded documents (soft copy) in their login. These documents will be available for download on Thursday, November 16, 2023, after 5 PM. The election department emphasizes that all applicants must upload documents visible in the respective spaces while filling out the new application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of the uploaded documents.

Graduates seeking to register as voters for the AGM election of the registered graduate group can do so online until 5 PM on Thursday, November 30. The online registration process can be accessed at https://mu.ac.in under ‘Election 2022’ or https://mu.eduapp.co.in.
