Dance Controversy Rocks Mumbai Local Train: Home Guard’s Viral Moves Spark Investigation
Mumbai, 13th December 2023: In a recent event that garnered public attention, a video clip surfaced online, showcasing a uniformed home guard dancing with a young woman inside a Mumbai local train. The incident reportedly occurred on December 6, between 10:10 pm and 10:15 pm, within the second-class ladies’ coach of a Central Railway local headed to CSMT.
The viral video captures a young woman dancing inside the ladies’ coach, with a home guard standing nearby, cautioning her about staying away from the door while recording the video. Soon after, he joins in and dances with the young woman, impressing some onlookers who record his moves. However, his dance later led to repercussions.
In response to the viral video, the Government Railway Police (GRP) took swift action. SF Gupta, the home guard seen dancing, was called for an explanation on December 8. A default report has been filed, signalling the commencement of an official investigation into the incident.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, particularly given the home guard’s responsibility for night escorting, the GRP is devising a comprehensive plan to prevent such incidents in the future, prioritizing the safety of commuters, especially women.
A senior official, highlighted existing directives for staff, emphasizing the prohibition of shooting videos, taking photos, or engaging in selfies while in uniform and on duty.
