Mumbai Crime Branch Cracks Down on Illegal Entry of Bangladeshi Nationals, Six Arrested
Mumbai, 13th December 2023: In response to a surge in the illegal entry of foreign nationals, the Mumbai Crime Branch has launched a targeted campaign against infiltrators. A recent operation led to the arrest of Bangladeshi nationals involved in a human smuggling network. Six individuals, including agents facilitating the illegal entry, have been apprehended.
The detained individuals include Nave Akram Noor Nabi Shaikh (26 years), Lima Shahajan Aldar (26 years), and four other Bangladeshi nationals.
Acting on confidential information, Mumbai Crime Branch intercepted a Bangladeshi national arriving at Shivdi railway station. The subsequent arrest of Nave Akram Noor Nabi Shaikh revealed a network involved in smuggling Bangladeshi citizens into India. Shaikh confessed to crossing the Indo-Bangladesh border without legal permission.
Following Shaikh’s interrogation, the police arrested Lima Shahajan Aldar, another accomplice involved in the illegal entry operation. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of four more Bangladeshi nationals connected to the network.
The suspects face charges under IPC Sections 465 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for cheating), and 471 (Using a forged document). Additionally, they are implicated under 3(a) and 6(a) of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, as well as Section 3(1) of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946. The investigation revealed the creation of a fraudulent Aadhaar card, leading to an extra charge.
Upon presenting the accused in court, their police custody has been extended until December 16, allowing further investigation into the network and its operations.
The successful operation was conducted under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar, Special Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti, and Joint Commissioner of Police Lakhmi Gautam. The dedicated team, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roushan and various officers and constables, played a crucial role in arresting the accused and dismantling the human smuggling network.
