Technical Glitch Disrupts Mumbai’s New Year: Central Railway Services Hit

Mumbai, 1st January 2024: Mumbai faced disruptions on the first day of the new year as the Central Railway encountered technical issues, causing inconvenience for both tourists and regular passengers. The glitch, originating from the Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen Express on Monday morning, had a cascading effect on the schedules of other trains. Local services from Kasara, and Karjat to CSMT direction were also impacted.
Passengers, including those who had come to Mumbai to celebrate the New Year, experienced delays and disruptions in Central Railway operations on Monday. The Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen Express faced a delay of 20 minutes due to brake binding. The repair process for two coaches experiencing brake binding simultaneously extended the delay, subsequently affecting the schedules of other trains.
The delays in long-distance trains had a ripple effect on local services, leading to a domino effect of delays throughout the day. Locals were running behind schedule by 20 to 25 minutes around noon, resulting in a surge of passengers and overcrowded local trains.
