University of Mumbai Introduces Dual Degree Program in Collaboration with Université de Troyes

Mumbai, 6th January 2024: In a groundbreaking move to align with the National Education Policy and foster global academic collaboration, the University of Mumbai has introduced a dual degree program in association with the prestigious Université de Troyes in France. The Department of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Mumbai is spearheading this initiative, allowing students to pursue degrees from both universities and gain exposure to international educational environments.

An academic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been established between the Department of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Mumbai and the Université de Troyes in France. This agreement facilitates a student exchange program, enabling students from both institutions to study and collaborate for periods ranging from 6 to 9 months. Under this program, students will be immersed in diverse research methods and equipment related to nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The collaboration extends beyond student exchanges, with faculty members having the opportunity to engage in joint research projects. This involves utilizing the infrastructure, expertise, and modern equipment available at both universities. The partnership aims to yield research outcomes, joint publications, and advancements in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The dual degree program offers numerous advantages to students, including the opportunity to obtain degrees from both the University of Mumbai and the Université de Troyes. This international recognition enhances the academic achievements of students. Additionally, students benefit from exposure to diverse educational environments, teaching methods, and research practices in both India and France.

Living and studying in two different countries foster cultural awareness, adaptability, and language skills among students. The dual degree initiative encourages the development of practical skills and research capacities by providing access to state-of-the-art research facilities and laboratories in both institutions.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, Prof Ravindra Kulkarni, emphasized the importance of the dual degree program in expanding the global outlook in the fields of science and technology. He stated that this initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy and promotes intercultural understanding, global perspectives, and skill development among students.
