Water Supply Restoration in Mumbai: 14 Pumps Reactivated at Pise Water Pumping Station

Mumbai, 27th February 2024: The operational status of the Water Pumping Station at Pise, under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), is steadily improving. Currently, 14 out of 20 pumps have been reactivated, contributing to the restoration of normalcy in the water supply.
Following the successful extinguishing of the fire at BMC’s water pumping station in Pisa on the evening of February 26, 2024, at 10 pm, progress continued. Around midnight, a transformer was initiated, facilitating the gradual restart of eight pumps.
From 4:00 today, approximately 8 pumps in the Panjrapur Water Treatment Plant were set in motion. Consequently, water supply commenced at a reduced pressure, serving Golanji Hill, Rawale, Fosberry House, and Bhandarwada service reservoirs in the eastern suburbs and city divisions from nine o’clock in the morning.
At 11 am, the second transformer underwent inspection and was successfully initiated. Subsequently, the remaining six pumps at Pise Water Pumping Station were gradually brought online using this transformer.
Currently, approximately 14 out of 20 pumps at the Pise Water Pumping Station are operational, contributing to the smooth flow of water. Ongoing efforts are directed towards the commissioning of an additional pump.
