AC Local Train to Soon Run on Harbour Line in Mumbai
Mumbai, 22nd April 2025: The Harbour line is set to get a major upgrade as Central Railway prepares to introduce air-conditioned (AC) local train on harbour line. A newly manufactured AC local train from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai has arrived in Mumbai and will soon be operational after testing.
The introduction aims to provide a more comfortable travel experience for daily passengers. In total, 14 AC local services are planned for the Harbour line. These will replace some general local train services during their scheduled times.
According to the Central Railway, the AC locals will operate on routes including CSMT-Panvel, Vashi-Wadala, Wadala-Panvel, and Panvel-CSMT. Service frequency will include one round trip during morning peak hours and two during evening peak hours. These AC trains would not be operational on Sundays and public holidays.
Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, confirmed the addition of the new AC local to their fleet and its upcoming use on the Harbour line. He also mentioned that testing is underway before passenger services begin.
