Ajit Pawar Takes a Stand: Vows to Eliminate “Koyta Gang” in Pune, Stresses Parental Responsibility

Wadgaon Sheri, 10th March 2024: In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar, a groundbreaking ceremony for various development projects took place in the Wadgaon Sheri Assembly Constituency in Pune. During the event, Ajit Pawar addressed the audience, discussing the ongoing development in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. However, he also expressed concern about the rising crime rates and emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
Ajit Pawar disclosed that he had issued instructions to the Commissioners of Police in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad on the same day. He acknowledged the existence of the “Koyta Gang” and issued a public warning, stating his determination to eliminate this criminal group. Pawar expressed his bewilderment at the term “Koyta Gang” and vowed to take decisive action against them.
Highlighting the alarming trend of young boys, aged between 12 and 14, carrying weapons such as Koyta and swords, Ajit Pawar urged parents to take responsibility for their children’s behaviour. He shared an incident where officials reported the presence of such armed youngsters. Pawar emphasized the need to instil fear in individuals engaging in criminal activities, even if they are young. He acknowledged challenges in dealing with minors due to legal constraints but asserted that the government would now involve parents in addressing the issue and making them aware of their children’s activities.
Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar delivered a strong message, urging parents to instil proper behaviour in their children. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of parents to be aware of their children’s activities, whereabouts, and conduct, even if some claim ignorance. Pawar asserted that no child will be exempt from consequences in the future, regardless of their family background. He warned that actions would be taken against any individual, regardless of their influential connections.
Ajit Pawar made it clear that requests for forgiveness on behalf of erring children would not be entertained. He outlined a stringent approach, mentioning that children involved in criminal activities would be taught a lesson by facing direct consequences, symbolized by being thrown into the “tyres.”
Pawar underlined the cultural significance of Pune as a centre of learning, emphasizing the rich history sanctified by the footsteps of Rajmata Jijau and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He asserted that Pune, with its cultural heritage, would not tolerate any actions that tarnish the name and principles of iconic figures like Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Phule, and Shahu Maharaj. The Deputy Chief Minister’s statement reflects a commitment to maintaining the values and culture associated with the city.
