Anganwadi Workers To Strike From 20th February
Mumbai, 30th January 2023: No increase in salary, rent of Anganwadis, food rates, end of service benefits, no sick leaves, closure of entitled summer vacations, no attention even after protesting for new mobiles, faulty tracker app – The Anganwadi workers in Maharashtra have called a strike from 20th February for these demands.
“Only promises are given by the government. But fulfilling the simple demands of Anganwadi workers are being ignored. Five and a half years ago, the state government increased the remuneration and the central government increased the remuneration four and a half years ago. After that, there was no increase in the remuneration of Anganwadi sevaks. Anganwadi sevaks have now decided to fight an all-out battle for their demands, including honorarium. Accordingly, the Maharashtra State Anganwadi Employees Action Committee has warned of going on an indefinite strike from 20th February,” the workers stated.
Anganwadis will be closed from 20th February. The president of the action committee informed that the Anganwadi workers have decided to fight on the streets by deciding not to fill out the nutrition tracker or reports.
While the Anganwadi workers have called for an indefinite strike, the state government and the administration will be given a notice on 1st February. After that, a notice will be given to all Zilla Parishads and project offices. The action committee informed there will be continuous agitations at the project, district and state levels.
