Auto Driver Arrested for Rigging Meter to Overcharge Passengers in Mumbai
Mumbai, 24th October 2024: Mumbai Traffic Police apprehended an auto driver who had manipulated his vehicle’s meter to overcharge passengers. The Traffic Police have submitted details of the auto to the RTO for further action.
Authorities had received complaints about an auto with a malfunctioning meter near Mumbai airport, deceiving passengers. After searching for Vile Parle Junction, police found the auto in question.
The driver, identified as Vijay Kumar Jaiswal from Kurla, confessed to altering the meter to make it run faster. Mumbai Police shared a video on their X account, showcasing the rigged “ghoda meter” and offering advice on how to spot such tampered meters.
