Auto Rickshaw Driver in Pune Nabbed for Assaulting and Robbing Passenger Near Railway Station

Pune, 10th March 2024: In Pune, auto rickshaw driver Chand Pasha Faridsaab (46) from Hadapsar was apprehended by the Bund Garden police on Friday. He faces charges of assaulting and robbing a passenger, Prashant Pawar (19), who works at a private firm. The incident occurred around 11:45 pm on Thursday (8th March) near the Pune Junction Railway Station when Faridsaab allegedly attacked Pawar, making off with Rs 300 in cash and a cellphone valued at Rs 90,000.

Following the assault, Pawar promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the auto rickshaw driver. According to senior inspector Sandipan Pawar of the Bund Garden police, the victim had hired an autorickshaw from Kesnand to reach his home after professional work in Kesnand, near Wagholi.

The autorickshaw driver diverted from the intended route, taking Pawar to an isolated lane near Pune railway station where the assault and robbery transpired. Notably, Faridsaab already has a criminal record with previous cases related to bodily harm, robbery, and assault.
