BMC Launches WhatsApp Online Reporting System For Garbage Complaints In Mumbai

Mumbai, 5th June 2023: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a new online reporting system that allows citizens to report garbage-related issues in their neighborhoods.

Starting today, on the occasion of Environment Day, the service will be operational to address the problem of piled-up garbage in public places. Citizens can utilize a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot number, 8169681697, to register complaints or provide suggestions regarding waste management.

To file a complaint, individuals can simply send a photo directly to the WhatsApp number, highlighting issues such as uncollected garbage, uncleared roads, or the presence of dead animals. Along with the photograph, citizens are required to provide the address and GPS location of the problem area.

Complaints submitted through the WhatsApp chatbot will be directed to the relevant department for swift action. The municipal administration aims to significantly reduce the response time for addressing these complaints. The Solid Waste Management Officer will promptly handle each complaint and provide a photograph of the resolved spot, ensuring transparency and accountability.

With the implementation of this system, it is expected that Mumbai will witness a noticeable improvement in cleanliness and aesthetics in the near future. By encouraging active citizen participation, the BMC aims to create a cleaner and more beautiful city for all residents.
