Ceiling Collapse in Thane Building: No Injuries Reported, Structural Repairs Needed

Thane, 7th September 2024: On Friday evening, the ceiling plaster of a building in Thane collapsed, but fortunately, there were no injuries, according to a civic official. The five-story building, located in Kisan Nagar of Wagle Estate, is 30 years old and has been classified as dangerous under the Thane Municipal Corporation’s ‘C2B’ category, stated Yasin Tadvi, chief of the regional disaster management cell.

The incident occurred at 5:45 pm. The fire brigade and RDMC personnel responded promptly to clear the debris. Tadvi noted that cracks have appeared in the building’s columns, necessitating structural repairs. The building houses five commercial units on the ground floor and 25 rooms on the upper floors.
