Central Railway to Run 236 Ganpati Special Train Services From Mumbai for Festival Rush; Bookings Begin August 1
Mumbai, 27th July 2026: Central Railway has announced 236 Ganpati Special train services from Mumbai to cater to the expected surge in passenger demand during the Ganpati festival. The services include 98 trains from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), 76 from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), and 62 unreserved MEMU special services from the Mumbai region.
The special services will connect Mumbai with destinations including Sawantwadi Road, Ratnagiri, Madgaon, Khed and Chiplun, with trains operating between September 11 and September 28, depending on the route.
Among the major services, Central Railway will operate:
66 CSMT–Sawantwadi Road daily special services
32 CSMT–Ratnagiri daily special services
34 LTT–Sawantwadi Road daily special services
22 LTT–Ratnagiri special services operating five days a week
12 additional LTT–Sawantwadi Road weekly and bi-weekly special services
Eight LTT–Madgaon special services, including AC and non-AC trains
62 unreserved MEMU special services between Diva–Khed and Diva–Chiplun
The reserved special trains will consist of combinations of AC, Sleeper and General Second Class coaches, while the MEMU services will operate with 12-car unreserved rakes.
Reservation for the special trains will open in phases:
August 1: Train Nos. 01153 and 01167
August 2: Train Nos. 01165 and 01185
August 3: Train Nos. 01103, 01129, 01151, 01171 and 01131
Tickets can be booked through all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and the IRCTC website. Bookings for unreserved coaches will be available through the UTS system.
Passengers can check detailed timings and halts of the special trains through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the Indian Railways enquiry portal.
