Coldplay’s January 2025 Concert in Mumbai Sparks Surge in Hotel Bookings
Mumbai, 5th October 2024: Mumbai is poised for a “Sky Full of Stars” moment as Coldplay fans worldwide prepare to gather for the band’s much-anticipated January 2025 concert. This marks Coldplay’s first performance in India since 2016, sparking enthusiasm among fans willing to pay premium prices for the highly coveted tickets. With the event drawing near, Mumbai’s hospitality industry is ready to capitalize on the influx.
The announcement of Coldplay’s return has led to a spike in hotel bookings and accommodation searches. A report from September noted that five-star hotels within a 20-kilometer radius of DY Patil Stadium, the concert venue in Navi Mumbai, are pricing rooms at nearly ₹1 lakh per night during the concert period.
Data from Agoda underscores the growing excitement. Following the concert announcement, hotel searches in Mumbai surged by a staggering 33 times, with domestic accommodation searches jumping by 45 times on the same day. Krishna Rathi, Agoda’s Senior Country Director for the India Subcontinent and MEA, highlighted the event’s impact: “We saw large numbers of Indians travel to Bangkok for Coldplay’s Bangkok show earlier this year. The band’s massive appeal in India means that Mumbai is set to witness something unforgettable, and we’re eager to support fans in finding the ideal stay.”
This surge in demand isn’t limited to Indian fans; searches have also been strong among international fans, especially from countries like France, the UAE, the UK, Spain, and Australia. The trend of major concerts driving tourism isn’t new—Seoul experienced a similar impact in 2022 when BTS concerts drew fans from over 100 nations, leading to a massive accommodation crunch.
With excitement building, Agoda advises fans to book accommodations early to secure the best options and rates ahead of the concert.
