Four Houses Collapsed In Vikhroli Amidst Heavy Rainfall; No Casualties

Mumbai, 15th July 2023: Four houses in the Parksite area of Vikhroli were completely shattered yesterday due to heavy rainfall, resulting in the collapse of the structures. However, fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

After a short recess, a monsoon has again made its presence felt in Mumbai since Thursday. There was continuous rain on Thursday night in Mumbai and adjoining areas. In that rainfall, the protective walls around the houses in the Parksite area of Vikhroli suffered significant damage and developed several cracks, posing a severe risk to the lives of the residents.

Realising the imminent danger, residents quickly vacated the houses and shifted their belongings to a safer location. Early in the morning, the wall began to shake, and within moments, it crumbled to the ground. Due to the foresight of the citizens, no casualties occurred during the incident.

Following the collapse, municipal corporation and fire brigade personnel promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and evacuate the affected area. The officials ordered a thorough investigation, including the completion of panchnamas (official inspections) and the distribution of aid to the victims.

However, with this tragic incident, the issue of unsafe buildings in Mumbai has again come to the forefront.
