Kothrud Trader in Pune Falls Victim to Rs. 45 Lakh Sugar Purchase Fraud: Two Individuals From Sangli Under Investigation

Kothrud, 11th March 2024: A fraudulent incident involving the swindling of Rs. 45 lakh from a trader has been uncovered, enticing him with the prospect of purchasing sugar at a discounted rate.
Two individuals from Sangli, Vikram Dinkar Patil (41) and Digvijay Dinkar Patil (38), both residents of Sangli and associated with VDP Flavor Foods, are now facing charges at the Kothrud police station, following a complaint filed by Sunil Shivram Gehlot (38) of Kothrud. The alleged deception transpired between June 2023 and January 2024.
According to law enforcement, Gehlot, the owner of Balaji Trading Company in Kothrud, was led to believe that he could obtain sugar at a reduced cost through Patil’s services. Initially, Patil built trust by successfully fulfilling a few orders. Gehlot placed a substantial order for 150 tons of sugar, transferring Rs 45 lakh to Patil’s bank account online.
The Patil duo pocketed the funds without delivering the sugar as promised. Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Alekar is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
