Major Anti-Encroachment Drive in Pimpri Chinchwad Clears 2.32 Lakh Sq Ft, Including Iron Sheds

Pimpri Chinchwad, 27th February 2024: Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Municipal Commissioner of PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation), shared that a substantial operation to address encroachments was carried out today in the PCMC area. A total area of 2 lakh 32 thousand square feet, including iron sheds and constructions, has been cleared through eviction measures.

Under the directive of PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh and with the guidance of Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, the enforcement was carried out under the supervision of City Engineer Makarand Nikam.

The operation targeted unauthorized iron sheds and constructions along the road from Nashik Fata Flyover to Sai Chowk Jagtap Dairy, falling under the jurisdiction of the D Regional Office. Encroachment measures were implemented on an area spanning 1 lakh 30 thousand square feet in C ward. This comprehensive action involved teams from all eight ward offices, namely A, B, C, D, E, F, C, and H.

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, along with Zonal Ward Officers Ankush Jadhav, Amit Pandit, Ajinkya Yele, Suchita Pansare, 5 Deputy Engineers, 5 Junior Engineers, 24 Beat Inspectors, one police officer from the Encroachment Department, 80 MSF jawans, 5 policemen, and 3 women police from Sangvi Police Station, 5 JCBs, 2 cutters, and 30 labourers actively participated.

Their collective efforts resulted in the removal of 3 RCC constructions covering an area of approximately 32,280 square feet and 7 brickworks spanning an area of about 97,840 square feet in Kudalwadi, Chikhali, specifically along the 30 meters DP road in Zone No 02. This comprehensive action involved the eviction of 15 iron sheds, expanding the road and clearing a total area of 1 lakh 30 thousand square feet.

Zonal Officers Anna Bodde, Rajesh Agle, Sitaram Bahure, and Umesh Dhakne, along with Junior Engineers Sandeep Vaidya, Kiran Sagar, Imran Kalal, led the operation under the guidance of Executive Engineer Rajendra Rane, Deputy Engineers Suryakant Mohite, Manoj Borse, Naresh Jadhav, and under the control of Kshitija Deshmukh, Chandrakant Patil, Priyanka Mhaske, Rachna Dalvi, Sandeep Wadile, along with Civil Engineering Assistants Aishwarya Masal, Keshav Khandekar, Nikita Phadtare, Srikant Phalke, Smita Gavane, and municipal employees, Maharashtra Security Force, and Maharashtra Police.

Encroachments continue to be a daily occurrence in different parts of the city. The public is urged not to leave abandoned vehicles on roads, avoid erecting unauthorized structures like steps, letter sheds, and banners, and cooperate in maintaining clean footpaths. Zonal officials appeal to citizens to refrain from unauthorized construction within the municipal area without obtaining proper permissions. Additionally, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil has assured that encroachment actions will persist across all wards in PCMC.

A few days ago, the Traffic DCP of Pimpri Chinchwad highlighted to Punekar News that unauthorized encroachment significantly contributes to traffic congestion in the city. He affirmed their commitment to addressing the issue by bringing encroachments under control, working in coordination with PCMC. Today, various areas affected by encroachments, identified as contributors to traffic jams, were actively addressed. The administration has issued positive warnings and initiated removal operations in these areas to alleviate traffic congestion.
