Maratha Kranti Morcha Alleges Betrayal: Thousands of Candidates to Contest Lok Sabha Elections in Pune

Pimpri Chinchwad, 12th March 2024: The Maratha Kranti Morcha has accused the Maharashtra State Government of deceiving Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil by failing to convert the drafted notification into a law defining the term “Sagesoyare.” In response to this alleged fraud, a unanimous resolution was passed to field numerous candidates in the Maval, Shirur, Baramati, and Pune Lok Sabha constituencies. Additionally, a decision was made to protest against ministers visiting Pune District.
The meeting, held at Bhoir Gym in Chinchwad Gaon, included members of Maratha Kranti Morcha and Sakal Maratha Samaj from the Pune district. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had persuaded Manoj Jarange-Patil to halt the protest in Navi Mumbai with a promise to formalize the notification of “Sagesoyare” into law in the presence of a large gathering of Maratha protesters. Despite objections being invited until February 16, three weeks have passed, and the Maratha Kranti Morcha workers allege that the Maharashtra Government has not converted the notification into law.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s actions, a unanimous resolution was passed to field thousands of candidates in Maval, Shirur, Baramati, and Pune Lok Sabha constituencies. It was further decided that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar must convert the notification into law within the next four days, or else the Morcha will field thousands of candidates against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, there are plans to surround all visiting ministers, including the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, in the Pune district before the implementation of the code of conduct.
During the meeting, it was determined to nominate at least two candidates from each ward in urban areas and one from each village in rural areas for the Lok Sabha elections. Those interested in filing nomination forms were urged to contact specific individuals for each Lok Sabha constituency. Maruti Bhapkar emphasized that the government’s alleged betrayal of the Maratha community has prompted the decision to field thousands of candidates in the upcoming elections.
