The police operation took place in Vishrantwadi, where a substantial stockpile of drugs was seized during the investigation. Acting on information gathered from the accused, Pune Police discovered a staggering 340 kg of raw material intended for the production of MD (Mephedrone) concealed in a nearby truck.
A total of nine individuals have been apprehended in connection with the case, while an additional 7-8 suspects are currently absconding, the city police chief informed.
The investigation is now delving into the intricate supply chain of the seized drugs, aiming to uncover the entire network involved in the illicit trade.
The cumulative seizure includes a staggering 1800 kg of MD drugs, signifying a major dent in the narcotics trade. Additionally, the recovery of 340 kg of raw material emphasizes the authorities’ commitment to dismantling not only the existing stock but also the means of production.
What adds another layer of complexity to the case is the revelation that these drugs were intended for international distribution. The Central Agency has now taken charge of the investigation, delving into the potential global ramifications of this illicit operation.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar clarified that, as of now, there is no apparent link between this case and the ongoing investigation by the Pimpri Chinchwad police regarding the Sangvi MD drug case in which a police sub inspector has been arrested.
