Mumbai: 53-Year-Old Detained For Breaking Traffic Rules And Assaulting Policeman
Mumbai, 14th March 2023: After being stopped on Saturday in Kurla for allegedly jumping a traffic light, the police detained a 53-year-old man for assaulting the traffic policeman.
Two men have been detained after being accused of slapping the officer. Rakesh Thakur, a 36-year-old traffic officer, was allegedly threatened and verbally abused by Khalid Vasaikar, a resident of Mahim.
Vasaikar, who was riding a scooter, had jumped the traffic light, and Thakur saw him and stopped him. Vasaikar was speaking to him as other people came nearby. On LBS Road, next to the Kurla bus depot traffic signal, the event happened at around five o’clock.
Unidentified men can be seen pushing and fighting with the policeman in a video of the incident. According to the police, the two unnamed individuals argued and verbally abused Thakur.
