Mumbai Airport Achieves Record Passenger Traffic in November 2023

Mumbai, 12th December 2023: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has set a new milestone in November by achieving its highest-ever performance in terms of passenger traffic. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the airport has experienced a notable surge in both domestic and international passengers, signalling a robust recovery in air travel.
In November 2023, a total of 28,679 flights operated from the airport, marking a 12 per cent increase compared to the same month last year when 25,375 flights were recorded. This surge in flight operations translated to over 44 lakh passengers travelling through Mumbai airport, indicating a significant rebound in air travel after the impact of the pandemic.
Key highlights of Mumbai Airport’s November performance include:
– Top Domestic Destinations: Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai maintained their positions as the top domestic destinations for passengers travelling from Mumbai airport.
– Top International Destinations: Dubai, London, and Abu Dhabi continued to be the most preferred international destinations for outbound passengers.
– Busiest Route: The Mumbai-Delhi route emerged as the busiest domestic route, with 5,57,393 passengers recorded.
– Increased International Travel: Mumbai Airport reported an uptick in international passengers, with over 20,000 domestic flights and more than 7,000 international flights operating during the month.
– Record-Breaking Day: The highest daily passenger traffic was recorded on November 25, with an impressive 1,67,132 passengers passing through Mumbai airport. Of these, over 120,000 were domestic passengers, and more than 46,000 were international passengers.
