Mumbai Airport Anticipates 8 % Surge in Flight Activity for Summer Schedule

Mumbai, 20th March 2024: During the upcoming summer schedule, spanning from March 31 to October 26, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), under the management of Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), a subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), anticipates a notable increase in flight activity. Weekly flight movements are projected to rise by 8 %, reaching 6,657 compared to the previous year’s figures.

This surge translates to a daily average of 951 flight movements, a significant uptick from approximately 882 in the previous summer schedule of 2023. IndiGo is set to lead the weekly departures with 1,255 flights, followed by Air India and Vistara with 539 and 519 departures, respectively.

The heightened flight operations will particularly impact key routes, notably those to Delhi, witnessing a substantial increase of 27 additional weekly flights. Other destinations experiencing notable frequency additions include Srinagar with 28, Ayodhya with 14, and Kolkata with 9 additional weekly flights.

In addition to domestic routes, international connectivity is also set to expand. Vistara plans to operate five weekly flights to Paris, while Akasa Air will offer four weekly flights to Doha, and Uzbekistan Airways will provide services to Tashkent twice a week. Vistara will further enhance connectivity with daily flights to Hanoi.

It’s worth noting that recent measures by the civil aviation ministry have been implemented to alleviate congestion at the airport, highlighting the importance of efficient management amidst growing air traffic.
