Mumbai: BEST Launches New Coastal Road Bus Route from South Mumbai to Oshiwara

Mumbai, 6th September 2025: Mumbai residents will soon have a faster commuting option between South Mumbai and the western suburbs, as BEST rolls out a new bus service along the coastal road starting Sunday. The newly introduced route, A-84, will connect S P Mukherjee Chowk (Museum) in South Mumbai to Oshiwara depot, offering a smooth and uninterrupted journey.

A senior BEST official said, “After a pause of nearly a month, BEST has received 20 brand-new electric AC buses, which will be inducted into the fleet by General Manager Asheesh Sharma on Saturday morning. Several of these buses will be assigned to the coastal road route.”

The A-84 service will start at the Museum, pass Churchgate station, and travel along the iconic Marine Drive before turning onto the coastal road. The bus will exit the coastal route near Breach Candy and continue via key landmarks including Parsi Hospital, Mahalaxmi Temple, Worli Dairy, and Worli depot before proceeding along the standard bus route to Oshiwara depot.

A BEST spokesperson added, “The first bus from Oshiwara depot will depart at 7.15 am, while the inaugural bus from the Museum will leave at 8.50 am. Fares will range from Rs 12 to Rs 50 depending on the distance traveled.”

Officials noted that the new route aims to provide commuters with a faster, more efficient connection between South Mumbai and the suburbs, bypassing traffic congestion along traditional routes.
