Mumbai: BMC Takes Action: Unauthorized Construction Demolished at Hotel Eastern Plaza, Chembur

Mumbai, 1st December 2023: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) executed a forceful demolition of an unauthorized construction at Hotel Eastern Plaza in Vatsalabai Naik Nagar, Chembur. The M-West Division Office of BMC led the operation, supported by tight security provided by the Nehru Nagar Police Station.
The unauthorized lodge, standing over 14 feet in height and constructed without proper permissions, utilized AC sheet roofing, BM wall, and slabs. Following an inspection of the hotel’s fire-fighting measures, BMC officials issued a notice to the hotel owner, leading to the subsequent action against the unauthorized construction.
The demolition carried out on November 30 under the supervision of BMC’s Joint Commissioner (Circle 5) Harshad Kale and Assistant Commissioner (‘M’ West Division) Vishwas Mote, resulted in the removal of approximately 80 per cent of the upper floors of Hotel Eastern Plaza. The operation involved 30 personnel along with necessary resources, workers, and officers from the ‘M’ West Division. The action was conducted under the vigilant oversight of police officers and employees from Nehru Nagar Police Station.
