Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Initiates Second Phase of Sea Coast Road Project
Mumbai, 20th November 2023: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is progressing with the second phase of the Sea Coast Road project, extending from Versova to Dahisar and Bhayander. Consultants have been appointed for the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 16,621 crore, with the consultancy fee set at Rs 74 crore. The consultants will play a crucial role in preparing detailed project reports, budgets, plans, and tender documents.
Currently, the first phase of the Sea Coast Road project is underway, stretching from Marine Lines Flyover to the southern end of the Bandra Worli Sea Link, covering a distance of 10.58 km. The project is 82 per cent complete, with a target to finish by May 2024.
Simultaneously, the tendering process for the coastal line from Versova to Dahisar is in progress, and the recent completion of the contractor appointment process for the Dahisar-Bhayander elevated road indicates significant developments in the overall project. The completion of these phases will eventually provide a direct route from Marine Drive to Bhayandar West via the coastal route.
The newly appointed consultant for the Versova to Dahisar coastal route will also integrate this route with the Goregaon-Mulund link road. The goal is to complete the entire project within four years.
The Versova to Dahisar route is segmented into six parts, each representing a distinct phase of the project:
1. Versova to Bangur Nagar
2. Bangur Nagar to Mindspace Malad
3. Mindspace Malad to Mahavir Nagar Tunnel
4. Charkop Gaon to Mindspace South Parallel Tunnel
5. Charkop to Gorai
6. Gorai to Dahisar
Upon completion, the Sea Coast Road project will enhance connectivity in Mumbai, providing an efficient and comprehensive transportation network.
