Mumbai: Father-Son Duo Booked for Allegedly Organizing Fraudulent Dadasaheb Phalke Award Event

Mumbai, 02 Feb 2025: Bandra police have registered a case against a man and his son for allegedly conducting a fraudulent event under the guise of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award.

The duo, identified as Anil Mishra and Manish Mishra, allegedly misused the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival trademark, falsely claiming that their event was associated with the central government. The case was filed based on a complaint by Samir Dixit, regional head of the BJP’s film unit.

According to the FIR, the accused organized the “Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award 2025” at the Taj Land’s End, Bandra, on February 19 and 20 this year. They reportedly sought sponsorships from various corporations, including tourism boards, banks, and insurance firms, under the pretence of government backing.

To maximize profits, the organizers allegedly charged an entry fee of ₹2.5 lakh per couple on BookMyShow, ultimately deceiving both citizens and the government of crores of rupees. Additionally, Anil Mishra allegedly falsely presented himself as a member of a government consultative committee to gain credibility.

Following the complaint, Bandra police registered an FIR under sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The investigation into the fraudulent event is currently underway.
