Mumbai: Four-Year-Old Boy Dies In Wadala As Speeding Car Hits Him Near Ambedkar College

Mumbai, 23rd December 2024: A tragic incident in Mumbai claimed the life of a four-year-old boy after a speeding car, driven by a 19-year-old, struck him, according to police reports. The accident occurred near Ambedkar College in the Wadala area.
The victim, identified as Ayush Laxman Kinvade, belonged to a family residing on the footpath, with his father working as a labourer. The driver of the vehicle, Sandeep Gole, a resident of Vile Parle, was behind the wheel of a Hyundai Creta. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
This accident follows another devastating mishap in Mumbai, where the driver of an electric bus operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) lost control, leading to a collision with pedestrians and vehicles. The December 9 crash in Kurla resulted in seven fatalities, 42 injuries, and damage to over 20 vehicles, as captured on CCTV footage.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently reported that Maharashtra ranks among the states with the highest number of road accidents in the past five years. Data from 2018 to 2022 shows over 7 lakh fatalities in road accidents nationwide, with Uttar Pradesh recording the highest toll at 1,08,882 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu at 84,316 and Maharashtra at 66,370.
