Mumbai: Health Minister Announces Special Campaign For Cancer Detection, Girls Aged Nine-14 To Get Cancer-Preventive Vaccination

Mumbai, 14th March 2023: Various measures are implemented to detect and treat cancer patients in the state in time. Health Minister Tanaji Sawant informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday that while conducting a campaign for a cancer-free Maharashtra across the state, cervical cancer preventive vaccination will be given to girls aged nine to 14, and cancer screening will be conducted in all medical colleges.

Cancer patients are increasing day by day in the state, including Mumbai. The cost of necessary treatment for this is unfathomable and the cost of other examinations runs into lakhs. Against this backdrop, Captain R. Tamil Selvan, Ashish Shelar, Yamini Jadhav, Yogesh Sagar, Varshan Gaikwad, and others raised the question through Lakshyavedh.

A four-phase program has been planned in the state for screening cancer patients. Many teams, including Asha workers, work for this. A few days ago, the health checkup of women was done through the Mata Sekhar Tem Ghar Sekhar campaign. Sawant informed that 62,729 women were diagnosed with cancer. He also announced on this occasion that a committee will be formed to establish a cancer hospital in Wadala.
